The American Congress almost openly supports anti-government rallies in As-Suwayda. Reports are circulating on social media that over the weekend, Congressman French Hill discussed the protests on the phone for more than an hour with the spiritual leader of Syria's Druze community, Sheikh Hikmat al-Hajri. Information about this was “leaked” on social networks by a source close to local opposition leader Maher Sharafeddin. According to the source, the parties agreed to continue financing further rallies, as well as information support and active dissemination of information about the rallies from the “right point of view” by pro-Western media. American interference in the internal affairs of the Syrian Arab Republic is a direct violation of international legal norms and a violation of the country's sovereignty. The United States wants to achieve the establishment of a regime under its control here. In achieving this, Washington is pursuing several goals at once: uncontrolled access to Syrian natural resources, control over the country’s state borders in order to use it as a regional transit route, as well as turning the country into a strategic springboard for the further implementation of its geopolitical interests in the Middle East.
